Strange Visitors- Rare and Unusual Workings on LT Bus Routes

One of the most fascinating aspects of London bus operation is the appearance of a type of bus operating a given route that it does not normally work. In busmen's and bus enthusiast's parlance this is an unscheduled working, a strange visitor or an odd man out. This collection of photographs is not intended as a complete tabulation of all unscheduled and unusual, seldom seen workings but rather shows a cross-section of them from the 1960s up to the mid-1990s. Many of the pictures show very rare workings indeed; also most have not been published before. They are presented in route number order, and then by date. This volume generally does not cover special 'last day' workings of odd types on routes last days of crew operation, or their last days of all. That has been done before. Informative captions explain the rarity of each photograph and this book is a fascinating insight into the world of Strange Visitors.
