Malta & Gozo Route Buses

There were 508 route bus licences in Malta, which were owned by approximately 400 owners across the island with a variety of types of vehicle, many Bristol LH's, Bedford coaches, ex London Swifts from the UK. Not to forget the Maltese buses with various types of locally built bodies. 2004 was a major landmark in the bus operation on the island with the influx of low-floor buses comprising of six types. For many, these new arrivals marked the end of the variety and unique nature of the bus fleet on the island. However, despite this the scene continued to remain very varied. On 3rd July 2011 this all changed when the 'Route Buses' ended in favour of an all low-floor operation operated by Arriva. This book looks back to what was before this major change.
